::monday blues::

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking Monday came too quickly. J and I got more skydiving in {seriously, I never thought I'd get so hooked} that took of most of Saturday, and again kept to last weekends plans. A relaxing Sunday consisting of boat, BBQ and a bonfire...with some shopping squeezed in there too!

It was so much fun playing with the camera as the leaves burned up in the air. The slow shutter speed made for some really neat photos.

Digging these scientific-inspired photos from Swedish photographer Pal Allan. How did they get that peach in there?

Those sneaky Swedes.

::who needs a tent?::

Last weekend, J and I slept outdoors. The moon was full and the breeze kept away all the mosquitoes-- it was wonderful. Now, I find myself planning camping trips for the next two weekends {we're pretty avid campers}. Although we only have a silly tent, how lovely would it be to settle into one of these amazing outdoor settings?

One day...

::addictive::

Oh, Pinterest. I had no idea you'd be so addictive. Is anyone else having this problem?

Feel free to follow my pins if you'd like.

::paint your heart out::

My friends have been taking painting classes downtown at Paint Along Studios, and I've been amazing at the paintings they bring home. Seriously. It's incredible what they do in a night with a canvas and acrylic paint {and limited painting backgrounds}. The concept is simple-- show up, with a bottle of wine if you'd like, and all the materials are waiting for you. The instructor paints at the front of the studio, showing you each brush stroke.

I've seen studios like these in other downtown areas, and I had to try it. Luckily, an upcoming painting was a peacock. I was thrilled because I've always been fascinated by these birds. I think the final product turned out pretty amazing for our whole group. And now it's hanging proudly, showing off his feathers, in my office.

::inspiration // closet visit::

Much like The Coveteur, I found another artist named Jeana Sohn who finds stylish, creative and inspirational woman to give us a view of their closet, home and belongings. She documents her photography at Closet Visit. It's something about human nature that draws me to look at other people's stuff...especially when things are beautiful, unique and inspirational {like the women themselves}.

::out & about::

The weather has been beautiful the past few days here {apologies to any of you who aren't experiencing the same}. I've made it a priority to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Perhaps a skydive or two. And hopefully I can get some sun, after being layered up for months, to wear pretty dresses like these.

6 petals is on Twitter! How tweet is that? --see what I did there, feel free to follow along.

::irbw // spring fever::

Let's start a poll here: who's ready for bare legs?!

I am.

How can you have a bad day if you're wearing pretty pinks or bold, feminine shorts like those? Now where can I find that lipstick?

{lots of questions, huh?}

::vintage accents::

I love seeing vintage accents in shops. These pretty images of Brooklyn boutique Saipua, a handmade soap & flower shop, shows the perfect mix of old with new. They even managed to make Spanish moss look super attractive. Spring is just around the corner, and I can't wait to have fresh flowers fill the house {along with vintage treasures, of course}.

::Project ReStyle // bohemian love fort::

I wanted to do something different this year for J. Instead of fighting the crowds at fancy restaurants, I knew I wanted to do something at home. Thanks to Justina of Compai Design Studio, I found this awesome fort idea a couple weeks ago and couldn't wait to build my own. And, it was perfect for Project ReStyle because I didn't spend a dime {except for wine & dinner} and used everyday items from my house.
Materials: 1 sheet, 2 curtains, 1 sarong, 2 scarfs, 1 bamboo pole, 1 blanket, vintage table runner, jute twine, 3 hooks, 10 metal clips, end table, hanging ceramic candle holder, crocheted snowflakes hung with clothes pins, every pillow I own, candles, wine + glasses, strand of feather butterflies, candelabra, vintage ottoman w/ random decorations, and pretty Lasater flowers in a vintage milk jug from J.

The whole project was so much fun. I was worried that it'd be a complete disaster-- something catching fire as the whole fort collapsed. However, all emergencies were avoided and it was the perfect setting for dinner, wine and missed episodes of Modern Family and The Office via Hulu.

And then we fell asleep...in the fort.

::it's here // BHLDN::

I spent the weekend in West Palm with my future sister-in-law for her bachelorette festivities and bridal shower. Everything was so much fun and I couldn't be happier my brother found such a wonderful soul mate. And, I got a glimpse of her beautiful wedding dress in the making {my mother is making her dress-- she does it all}.

In other bridal news, Anthropologie unveiled their new wedding brand, BHLDN {pronounced "Beholden"}, and of course it lives up to all the hype. I've been getting my sneak peaks via Oh! Joy {you can see Joy's part 1 and part 2}. They must have lost my sneak peek invitation in the mail...

by the way...

Happy Valentine's Day.

::the L word::

The blog world is filling up with pinks, reds, chocolates and lovey-doveyness. Though far from my favorite holiday, I have the perfect Valentine's Day idea up my sleeve for J (we'll see if the execution goes as nicely in real-life as it is in my head). However, in preparation, I thought I'd share my favorite vintage valentines.

::ReStyle // week 5::

Yes, another ReStyle involving a flower. This week I ReStyled an old {circa 2005} cardigan. I bought it because I love the color, but only ended up wearing it once. You may be asking yourself, "why do you still have it?" I asked the same thing.
1. I started with an old, knitted cardigan, scissors, buttons, needle & thread, safety pin and a fake flower.
2. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the cardigan had a row of iridescent, pink beads. I removed these for a more casual look-- snipping them off one at a time {it was tedious}.
3. And, I took off the pair of pink buttons, too.

4. I sewed on two mismatched brass buttons for a more original look.

5. Attached the flower with a simple safety pin so it's easy to remove for washing.

Finally, I
made
asked my friend, Danielle, to model the final product.

For those of you that don't know about Elise & Rachel's Project ReStyle, you can read all about it here and begin ReStyling yourself. There's also a Flickr group where people from all over the country are uploading their ReStyle pictures-- in case you need some inspiration.

And remember, the giveaway ends on Tuesday. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

::color love // chocolate brown::

After a quick stop at Publix for some groceries, I couldn't resist the cashier begging me to put a package of Reese's peanut butter cups on the conveyor belt. I said 'no' once, but then she jumped over the counter and twisted my arm.

Those Reese's were soooo good.

Now, you can get your chocolate fix, too.

  1. Lovely, rustic pendant lighting from terrain
  2. Silky-smooth Betty Dress from Edelweiss By Sarah
  3. "If I owned these I won't take them off my feet" heels from coclico
  4. One of man's greatest inventions...Reese's

While you're here, take a quick second and enter the giveaway for a handmade, leather triangle necklace from 6 petals.
