::wedding details::
These are more images from the rehearsal dinner this past weekend. The bride chose purple and it came together so beautifully. The dinner was held at my parents' home, which was perfect for the rustic theme. Vintage wooden baskets were purchased from Ebay, and served as the centerpiece to hold table numbers, made out of leftover burlap. The watering cans and other vintage decor are from my mother's collection, and filled with various purple flowers. My brother carved that tiki guy a few years ago and it turned into a happy bride & groom couple on the back porch {complete with veil and bowtie}.

::restyle // window seating chart::
I'm a big fan of Ruffled, a wedding blog for vintage and creative brides. There are so many neat DIYs and it's so fun to see how clever couples get with their photo shoots, rehearsal dinner parties and wedding festivities. It's been a great resource for ideas for my brother's wedding.
Lucky for me, the bride's father had this random window in his garage. I snatched it up, gave it a good scrub and it was ready for it's debut.
The 6-paneled window was perfect because the rehearsal dinner was 6 table settings. I used purple, white and silver paint pens and went to work on the seating chart. The dinner was setup buffet-style on the dining room table across from the fireplace-- the perfect location to get your plate, see where you're sitting and enjoy the night.
And boy, did we enjoy celebrating. Cheers to Brendan & Heather!
P.S. If you need one (two, three +) of these for your wedding, I'd be happy to customize windows for you. Email me and we can talk about your project!

::easter & family::
I was lucky enough to spend most of last week and the weekend at home with my family and J for my little brother's wedding {more on that this week!} and Easter. I'm even luckier to be a part of such a close-knit, loving and supportive family.
Yesterday after wedding festivities, we said farewell to the bride and groom and headed to my grandparents' house for the beach and dinner. After dinner my grandma brought out some old family photos. That woman in the top picture is her mother {my great grandmother}...check out her style! It's so neat to see what they wore, the expressions on their faces, and the architecture around them. And the last one is my beautiful mother {far left} with her siblings.

::customer appreciation::
When a 6 petals item is all packaged and shipped to a new home, I always wonder what space it will end up in or how it will be used. Janis, the new owner of these vintage, hand-painted milk jugs from 6 petals, sent a picture of how she decorated with them in her kitchen. I love all the rustic colors...and, check out those beautiful granite counter tops! Thanks so much for sending this, Janis.
I'd love to see how you've styled your new 6 petals items. Keep the pictures coming-- email me.

::home is where mom is::
There's really no place like home.
My little brother is getting married this weekend, so I traveled southeast towards HOME. I'm helping my mom with some last minute decorations, center pieces, and odds & ends. I love being greeted at the door by my amazing parents and family dogs, Sophie and Austyn.
Love you Mom {and Dad, of course}.

::easter manicure // take 1::
One of the images from yesterday's Pinterest post can be checked off my to-do list.
I didn't have the perfect colors for a mint base with roses and leaves, I decided to use Easter-inspired colors. Although, my ring finger kinda looks like a candy corn.
Confession: For as long as I can remember, I've been a nail-bitter. My mom {and friends} and I tried all the tricks to break me of this yucky habit: hot sauce, bitter polish, socks, bets with J for fancy dinners, etc. Nothing worked. For my friend Julia's wedding last fall, I had acrylics put on. When they were off {finally, they ruined my natural nails} I saw some growth. This sparked motivation and I finally kicked the habit. I still like to keep them short and sweet.
Take 2 will be better...

::a winking owl and curious crab::
Alright ladies, any exciting plans this weekend?
I scored same major deals at the thrift stores this week. Did you see this tweet about my new Burberry button-down? And, a lined, black and white chevron-patterned skirt + a few pretty vintage tins-- my favorite things for storing knick-knacks. I'll be spending the weekend with J as he competes in his first sprint triathlon. After, we're eating some crawfish at a local festival, skydiving from 15,000ft. and relaxing to live music by night.

::irbw // from b jones closet::
I've envied Beth's {of B. Jones} closet since I stumbled upon her style blog last year. I love her creative mix of modern and vintage pieces that make her style truly unique. And her outfit above is one in particular that I'd like to
::on a {political} note::
My beautiful friend Lauren is an HR professional and sharp as a tack. This weekend she shared a little story worthy of mentioning here {in case it helps, doing my part to support a friend and a good cause}.
Polk County, along with much of Central Florida, is known for its vast orange groves. Local families have been growing and harvesting Florida oranges for generations. We're also home to large blueberry, strawberry and cattle farms to name a few. A large phosphate company in Florida is undergoing a review by the Army Corps of Engineers (ACE) to determine the environmental impacts of phosphate mining. Phosphate mining is important as it related to the country's food supply. Phosphate generates fertilizer, which we rely on to maintain crops. After mining, there is a stringent reclamation process-- land is brought back to grade, forestry is planted and wetlands are re-established. The alternative is outsourcing our phosphate needs to the Middle East-- causing foreign importing dependence. Not to mention, the financial foundation that phosphate mean to so many people in Central Florida: families {some of my friends}, contractors, vendors, businesses and the local economy.
If you'd like to leave a comment on the importance of continued phosphate mining in Central Florida, please visit HERE. Your comments will help the ACE determine the future of phosphate.

::Project ReStyle // fabric hair clip::
I'm a big fan of hair decorations-- flowers, headbands, clips, barrettes, hats, scarfs...
Seriously, this project took me about 5 minutes and I love the result. I used fabric from a vintage tie I cut up a while ago {regretting it in hindsight, such a neat tie}. After cutting out a sized piece, spray the top and sides of the hair clip with adhesive-- oh, and do it outside because this stuff is sticky. Then, just apply the fabric on top and tuck in the edges around the bottom. If needed, you can use a glue stick for the bottom edges, too.
Here's a super easy DIY for Project ReStyle.
Clip it in and show it off.

::weekend project::
My little brother is getting married in 2 weeks! I still picture us running around playing man-hunt and building forts with my other two siblings. Stinks to get old {although I'm still building forts}. We couldn't be happier for the beautiful couple...his finance is absolutely amazing.
I spent the weekend finishing up their rehearsal dinner invitations. Since I'm not in town to help the bride-to-be with odds & ends, I was glad to do this little project for them. The wedding is Easter weekend and the rehearsal dinner will be a casual, outdoor get together of close friends and family. The decorations are fairly simple with rustic wooden baskets and colorful flowers for the center pieces and flowing purple fabric and burlap table coverings. I wanted the invitations to have that same rustic feel.
I designed the invites and had them printed on white cardstock at a local print shop. For the "handmade" touch, I sewed the cardstock onto scalloped kraft paper with brown thread. I love how they turned out. And now, I'm more excited than ever for wedding festivities.
Off to the post office.

::irbw // swim::
I can't remember the last time I wore a one-piece, but Anthropologie has me adding them to my spring/summer wish list-- and they're pretty as ever. I love these two {among others in their collection, like this one}. Clean, feminine, geometric lines and hello! that plunging neckline is so sleek. The weather's a balmy 92 degrees, and all I want to be wearing is one of these beauties {an iced cocktail in-hand wouldn't be bad either}.
Cheers to a lovely weekend, friends!

::see you tomorrow::
The sun's a-shinin' today. Around noon yesterday the sky was black and hurricane force winds blew in. After feeling a little like Dorothy, a couple tornadoes littered the streets with debris and a couple hundred-year-old oak trees were uprooted. I arrived home to no power, which meant a trip to J's for wine and movie night.
On the bright side, the weather looks great for the weekend. I'll be setting up shop Downtown for the monthly Main Street Market Day. The park will be filled with fresh produce, handmade soap, baked goods, plants and herbs, local artist, and yours truly. Come say hi!
