I saw the first image on AdoreVintage and felt inspired. I love lace. Yea, even on shovels.

::hats on::

Living in Florida means lots of sun protection. Aside from sunscreen, hats are an easy solution and the right one can really make an outfit. My favorites are usually of the straw variety in various sizes-- depending on the occasion. If it's going to be a long day in the sun, like on the beach or boat, I'd choose a floppy/sun hat. For a trip to the farmer's market or an outdoor lunch with friends, I'll grab a bucket hat or {the always reliable} fedora. And with the simple tan shades, it's simple to match with bathing suits and breezy dresses.

::irbw // coral + tan::

I've talked about Closet Visit here before. It's definitely a go-to when I need some style/decorating inspiration. This time it was so difficult to choose one outfit for what I'd Rather Be Wearing from actress Allison Miller. With her unique style, fun accessories and bright red lips, every image and every outfit had me swooning. Yes, swooning. I love THIS coral dress with peter pan collar and lace overlay + THAT pair of tan oxfords.

::decorate // vintage kitchen::

I've got decorating on my mind.

Jumping from dorms and apartments through college, I've never had an optimal place to cook/bake. One day, I'll have my dream kitchen and decorate with vintage {and vintage-inspired} housewares and decor. These are just a few that caught my eye.

::color love // the prettiest pink::

If one color can stop me in my tracks, it's pale pink. Mixed with an old, wooden ladder + black and white photos...ever better. Loving these images via Pinterest.

::shop update // lovely metals::

Some unique, metal trinkets made their way into the shop

In my opinion, metal looks so much better with age {a vintage vulture would say that about most materials}. These items are no exception. A fire engine red lantern, a copper clipboard from Virginia and a neat tray trio that folds up, too! I can just imagine the tray trio holding jewelry, cupcakes or as a display for fresh-picked flowers.

p.s. I usually tweet when I'm listing items, so you can follow along to be the first to know.

::chalk it up to dana::

How cool is this chalk lettering from artist Dana Tanamachi?! This is one she did for room 1021 at the Ace Hotel. I love the vintage style and the look of chalk on a slate-colored background. Not to mention a great, little sayings to make you smile.

::irbw // alternative::

I'm loving this look from the Alternative Apparel Summer Lookbook. Since the heat is here already, I'll find myself wearing lots of breezy, patterned skirts like THAT with bold colored tanks like THIS. Oh, and daily sunscreen {I'm finally making an effort to protect my skin}.

::balls, worn metal bats and stickers on my shoes::

This weekend we ventured out to the batting cages. Growing up, I was the only girl in Little League for a few seasons because I didn't care much for softball. My dad played through college and the family spent many weekends watching my older brother play, so I figured I'd follow in their footsteps. It felt good to swing a bat again and enjoy the gorgeous weather we've been having in Central Florida. After hitting a few rounds, we went to a friend's house and I found that six petaled flower! How perfect.

::a lucky find::

This little gem was hiding behind a few faux leather handbags, broken straw hats and plastic visors at a local thrift store. A small, leather Lucky Brand shoulder bag that's just perfect. Oh, and $2.

::which way?::

Alright dear readers, I have a question for you. Which way do you prefer this vintage filigree oval mirror?

My first take on prop styling {I could use some tips from the Compai girls, Justina & Faith}.

::360 degrees::

My friend, Jen, hosts a monthly drum circle downtown. She bring a variety of drums and other percussion instruments from her personal collection, lays down a few blankets and gets the community involved through music. My friend Chase of Kanga Marketing has been doing some pretty cool stuff with a camera. He uses a special lens to create these awesome Virtual Reality 360 degree photos that play like a video. Put these two together, and this is what you get...

Pretty cool, huh? I'm jammin' on the djembe drum. The 8 year-olds with Tupperware and wooden spoons have more rhythm than me. Sad, but true.

::confession from the sole::

{in advance, this is not a sponsored post-- just a happy girl with pretty shoes}

Two of the best things in my closet right now...

You've probably seen these Seychelles before, they aren't new. My friend, Keira, has them. So does Christina. And Kristine.

This is the one about the girl with too many shoes:
I admit it. I'll pass on the latest 70's flair denim {mostly because this girl's got some thighs} and overlook a shiny watch, but put a pair of shoes in my face and I'm bound to dream up an outfit from my closet giving me ample reason to buy them. Oh, and anything with Anthropologie on it. Game over.

::current wishlist::

Just a few pretty things that I have my eye on. Simple, white linen pants are a hot commodity for me. I have brown and red, but need a crisp white pair. Keeping it basic with clothing allows me to play around with amazing accessories. I'm really loving those full leather sandals.

::lucky lady::

We have a winner from the latest giveaway. I'm sure you will look stunning in these handmade 6 petals earrings, Michelle! {Please email me your address and I'll send them your way.}

*winner chosen via random number generator

::Project ReStyle // collared halter top::

A while back I saw an amazing Free People blue striped, collared halter top, but didn't buy it because I told myself I could make it. Fast forward 2 years and I finally did it.

Supplies: collared shirt {thrifted $2}, fabric scissors, needle + thread

Simple steps from left to right:
  • Start by cutting off the front portion of the sleeves, from the armpit to the collar.
  • Continue on the back cutting from the armpit straight across the back {I left a 3" section connected in the back to add a braided detail}.
  • Snip the back piece.
  • Cut three strips in the longer bottom portion.
  • Braid the strips and make a few stitches to attach the braid to the top portion.

::mother knows best::

Headed camping with my family this weekend. It's also my niece's third birthday, so we'll be making lots of s'mores to celebrate. And, it'll be amazing getting to see mom for Mother's Day. I won't go on about how wonderful she is here, but let's just say I don't mind growing up sounding/acting like her.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom. I can't thank you enough...love you.

::irbw // audrey's colors::

One of the first blogs I started following was a lovely escape. Audrey's style is classic, feminine and seems to be effortless. Most of the time, I shy away from busy patterns and let texture, color and details do the talking. Today I'd rather be wearing one of her latest outfits: THIS bold coral cropped blouse with simple white denim or THAT blushing pink button-down paired with a suede scalloped-edge skirt {not to mention her envy-worth wedges}.

Oh, and her home style is just as lovely as her clothing choices.

::when lines meet color::

I've been seeing stripes everywhere. These are a few beautiful images from Pinterest that I couldn't resist. You can't go wrong with classic stripes, and orange is a perfect color for spring/summer whether it's on you or your home.

Did you know...Wearing, meditating or surrounding yourself in orange increases joy and optimism. {via Colorstrology}

I'm gonna try it.

::weekend review // getaway recap::

Back home after a wonderful little getaway to Hilton Head. A very large rooster, toes in the sand, sunset bike rides on the beach and yummy martinis from Daniel's Restaurant.

Shop updates, ReStyles and a giveaway this week!
