::photography // mariell amelie::

A beautiful series of shots by photographer Mariell Amelie for Lucy In Disguise, a London based vintage store. I'm not certain, but the middle model looks a lot like Nadia of FrouFrouu.

::DIY clothing rack::

On Saturday, I'm doing my first antique show in Virginia. I'll be showing off much of my collection: restyled furniture, vintage home decor, antique goods, vintage dresses + bags, handmade jewelry and wall art. There's lots of unique stuff that hasn't been listed in the shop (yet).

I've been needing a clothing rack to display the dresses and I found a great idea here to do it myself. Yesterday J and I gathered all the supplies at the hardware store and started building. It's all various metal plumbing/piping supplies. Some pieces we couldn't find in black iron, so we went with galvanized steel. The mix-matched looks pretty cool. We set it up outside and it's just perfect. The industrial look is exactly what I wanted. Plus, it's slim and sturdy. Here's the assembly process...

::on the go::

Now, you can read the blog more easily from your smartphone and visit the shop there, too! We're gettin' mobile optimized over here.

Sure, almost every website can be accessed on a phone, but they're not formatted for the screen resolution. After spending the last few month creating mobile websites for small to medium-sized businesses, I've had the opportunity to research mobile technology and mobile websites like crazy. It's amazing how these little devices have changed the way we do things. Most of the time, they never leave our side. I'll give you one fun fact: Google says by 2015 they will be developing for mobile devices first then focusing on desktop sites.

::maybe you noticed::

Keepin' it clean around here for now. And by clean I mean lots of white space.

::keep it simple::

As much as I'd call myself a sterling silver girl, lately I've been leaning towards yellow and antique golds (I wish I had more rose gold). I love these unique, hand-cut geometric beads. And, two of my favorite colors: sea foam green + pale pink. More simple beauties are in the a merry mishap shop.

::featured: mix + match // vintage pairs::

Emily of EL Vintage asked me to collaborate on a fun guest post. A while back I paired vintage goods with beautiful clothing. I'm surprised how well some of our items paired up together in terms of color and texture. You can say hello to Emily at her blog or shop.

::steel paper::

A unique steel sculpture by Neil Dawson to look like a massive piece of paper in the sky. It looks so pretty on this farm in New Zealand.

Occasionally I find images of rooms that I admire. This bedroom is one that I really love, something I'd like to mimic. Like, every tiny detail. That crocheted bedspread, crisp white walls, mix-matched pillows, floral paper lantern, and step-stool exit + entry would never get old. Simply perfect if you ask me.

::easy treat::

I saw this and immediately wanted to try it. Head on over to Whitney's blog for the recipe. She takes great photos and I envy her use of white space all over-- so clean, simple + well done.

How cool are these painted stones by California artist, Marisa Redondo? They'd make such a perfect little gift.

::rental business::

There's been lots of buzz lately about YEAH! rentals. The website just got a facelift and their stuff is awesome. Based in LA, YEAH! rentals provides rad tables, chairs and decor items for all kinds of events. I'm getting ready to book a bunch of antique/art shows this year and I'd love a place like this close by to rent furniture that isn't your standard pop-up table.

Beautifully eerie and dark images, captured around a 1920's greenhouse.

This site has me excited for the work week. work.place is a documentary of Portland creativity facilitated by local photographer, Carlie Armstrong. Super inspiring to see artists in their element.

Found this little guy at an antique store begging me to take him home. I kindly agreed. The type and graphics had me at hello.

I've been playing around with my macro lens. So fun.

::pure perfection::

Stopped dead in my tracks when I saw these images, all inspired by Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo. The colors, patterns, textures, lighting, lipstick and flowers are pure perfection. Round of applause for the photographer + stylist.

::a trip::

I couldn't help but become a tourist and take pictures of everything on our trip to Washington DC. It's such a vibrant city. My friend works for a Congressman and lives right in the heart of DC. I have a whole new appreciation for the Capitol Building. It's so cool inside-- lots of detailed paintings and indicate details.

Every weekend, the Eastern Market comes alive with artists, vintage sellers and farmers market. Jay picked up some records to add to our collection.

We biked all over the city and accomplished so much in our weekend trip. Huge success. {and HUGE thanks to Katie for opening up your house and wine.}

::eye-catching type::

Just a few fonts that made me smile.

I'm traveling to DC this weekend and staying with an old friend from high school. Jay and I are bringing our bikes on the train and hope to ride to as many museums, parks and eateries as we can fit into our time there. I love visiting new places! I'll be keeping an eye out for creative-types. Anyone know of any cool vintage stores in the area?

::statement pieces::

When it comes to jewelry I lean two ways: 1) simple and dainty, 2) big and bold.

Alexandra Dodds Jewellery collection falls into the second category. Alexandra Dodds is a jewelry designer and artist based in Wellington, New Zealand. Big rings are the best and the gorgeous precious metals make such a statement. It helps that the photography and lighting is incredible too. You can see more of Alexandra's work on her blog.

::baby, it's cold outside::

...too cold for this Florida girl.

::wacom, i think i love you::

This bad boy was wrapped under the tree for me. I've been eyeing one for a while and had it on my wish list. Santa must be a blog reader.

Get ready for more hand drawn graphics, type and personal touches because I'm already addicted. I've always wanted to create my own font!

And, this photo was taken with my new 60mm macro lens. Product shots just got an upgrade.

The colors, the decorations, that chair...beautiful.
