It's been so beautiful in our backyard. I'm really not sure why we've been eating dinner inside at all. That's gonna change. It's the perfect place to sip a little wine and relax from the daily grind. Those roses are as big as my head.

::this is (not) a wedding post::

Well, maybe a little.

Even long weekends go by too fast. While Jay and I were home in Florida for Memorial Day, my mom and I snuck a peek at two different venues. Wedding ideas were thrown around and we even talked dresses. I'm so lucky to have my mom, sister and two sister-in-laws on my side to help me plan.

Nights were spent on the back porch sharing stories and surprise champagne toasts with my favorite people in the world. Family is the best.

I put on these floral tights (+ other layers) for a birthday celebration and a trip to the hospital– our friend gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Keller. Everyone who saw me thought I had tattoos all over my legs or some sort of skin disease. I keep people guessing.

::get out::

Even though the temperature is dropping, it was still nice to get outside after being cooped up all week.

(Yes, that's Jay and me up there. That place is an old landfill transformed into an amazing city park. The playground was awesome.)

::oceans::

Last night I watched Disney's Oceans on Netflix while doing some design work. It's a documentary on ocean life, and geez, some of those creatures are so wild looking! It seems more like science fiction out there with all those funky fish, crabs + narwhales! Oh, how I love mother nature. So I felt inspired.

I've been having some issues with the new laptop...for some reason I thought I was technologically savvy. The Mac gods say otherwise. It sounds like there is a robot inside the cd-rom-- it makes a weird siren noise every now and then. I'm hoping it's newborn hiccups or something similar.

Cheers to working computers and a very happy weekend. Any big plans? I have two auctions lined up and I'm hoping to land an old, large metal sign at this one place. I went early to scout out the inventory up for auction, and I'm a big fan of vintage typography.

An ode to flora and fauna. Those brass bookends are such a show stopper, those antlers! And of course, the vintage tin collection is growing. I'm also beginning to list some items in sets-- an instant collection. The first is a trio of wall hangings: flowers, deer and mushroom. Oh, and there's a butterfly in there.

My beautiful friend Lauren is an HR professional and sharp as a tack. This weekend she shared a little story worthy of mentioning here {in case it helps, doing my part to support a friend and a good cause}.

Polk County, along with much of Central Florida, is known for its vast orange groves. Local families have been growing and harvesting Florida oranges for generations. We're also home to large blueberry, strawberry and cattle farms to name a few. A large phosphate company in Florida is undergoing a review by the Army Corps of Engineers (ACE) to determine the environmental impacts of phosphate mining. Phosphate mining is important as it related to the country's food supply. Phosphate generates fertilizer, which we rely on to maintain crops. After mining, there is a stringent reclamation process-- land is brought back to grade, forestry is planted and wetlands are re-established. The alternative is outsourcing our phosphate needs to the Middle East-- causing foreign importing dependence. Not to mention, the financial foundation that phosphate mean to so many people in Central Florida: families {some of my friends}, contractors, vendors, businesses and the local economy.
